Dana 60 woes
Working on my buddy jorvis79’s 1979 f250 over the weekend and can not get the rear brakes done due to the rear inner seal for the hub. He ordered the one from Jeff’s bronco graveyard that it says it boils be but it’s way to big. I called them and they were no help, just said that’s what it’s supposed to be so they had no idea. Wondering if anyone else ran into this before. With a tape measure the inner diameter where the seal is on the old seal is roughly 2-5/8, new one is 2-7/8. Overall seal size on the old one is 3-5/8 vs new one 4-1/8. Even where it rides on the axle is 2-5/8 it appears. I’m assuming it’s a Dana 60 because that’s what should be in it and all the brakes on the ends matched the new stuff and fit well. Any ideas are appreciated.
But...there are TWO different F250 rear axle seals, and a THIRD rear seal for F350 2WD's.

thank you so much for the info, neither of those two seals when googled look like the one we got from jeffs bronco. The second one looks just like the seal that was there. no one seems to make them except maybe Timken. this one says it works with that factory number. thanks again

Try local independent auto parts stores like NAPA .. They can cross the Ford part numbers over to the brands they sell.
