The fordification site says the "D" engine code is rated at 208 HP at 4400 RPM but this tag clearly states 172 HP at 4000 RPM. Is one rating at the crank and the other at the wheels or is fordification just wrong?
Certified net was measured with accessories like an alternator and water pump to give a realistic as installed number. The 208 was advertised horsepower measured on a dyno with no accessories that a real engine in a vehicle would have. EDIT: The net horsepower was also measured with the factory breather and exhaust manifolds. The advertised gross horsepower would have used an air horn and dyno headers.
