I have a 2009 F-250 with the 5.4 3v. My truck has a cracked or leaking drivers side exhaust manifold.
I've seen lots of videos on the passenger side replacement but nothing on the drivers side.
Of course they're very rusty. How much do the steering parts get in the way?
My truck failed state inspection because of this. The dealer wants $800 to replace it.
I'm pretty cheap and I hate paying for something I can do myself, but I can see me breaking all the nuts off, not being able to get the studs out and having to tow it after much frustration to the dealer.
Any thoughts on this job?
I did the passenger side on my 2001 and had the same reservations. It turned out ok, and I would probably tackle the drivers side given what I learned.
If you have the tools, a good place to work, and some time.....go for it. Otherwise.....pay the man!
