Hi someone on Craigslist is selling a 1950 rear reproduction bumper. Will this bumper fit a 1955 Ford F100? I thought I read that bumper up to 1970 will fit my 55 F100?
Thanks
Jerry
It's not the right bumper but a lot of trucks came with no rear bumper at all. If the bumper is a good deal and you are up to a little fabrication work I son't see why you can't make it work but don't expect it to be a bolt-on. It might be a tad shorter than a 55 bumper since the 48-52 trucks were narrower.
There should be lots of steel 53-72 bumpers around that guys are willing to sell. A lot of guys replace theirs with new stainless or chrome. So if you want a black painted bumper I'm sure you'll find one. Even repops are only around $99.

1973: Ford increased the width between the inner frame rails behind the cab from 33 1/2" used 1972 and earlier to 37 1/2" on the following:
1973/79 F100 2WD/4WD, 1975/79 F250 2WD, 1975/79 F150 2WD/4WD, 1977 F250 4WD from serial number Y20,001, 1978/79 F250 4WD
The Styleside & Flareside bumpers are different, the brackets are different.
1973/79: The only trucks that used the BBAA-17906-A Flareside rear bumper were 1973/77 F250 4WD's aka High Boys, because they retained the 33 1/2" frame rails.

I’ve used that later bumper several times. You just have to make spacers and the brackets actually are better as they make the bumper closer to the bed for the custom look
and I was just stating the facts that A channel bumper was used later. I never said it was exactly the same as the 72 and earlier
