When i bought my French Flathead some years ago, I got as gift a 2nd which was sleeping for a long period under a tree. After some hours of work, it becomes my coffee table !
How did the French flattie work out? I remember reading about the discovery of a bunch of NOS engines in France some time ago. I seem to remember that they were just a little different, but I'm not sure. Probably saw the article in Hot Rod or Car Craft.
There is no big differences between the french Flathead and the Ford.
The french is based on the 49/53 version and some parts has been reinforced because they all have been only installed in army trucks. For example, the camshaft is designed for trucks with a max RPM of 2500 !
Some says these engines are better to improve power.
But the great advantage is most of them have few mileage and it’s still possible to find brand new ones as these trucks have been retired in 1990 !
