I have a 450. I am not concerned about the weight. I am curious on which trailer I should get though. I am leaning forwards a 7’x16’ V nose tandem. However, I am intrigued by an 8.5’x16’. I have a duality so I don’t have to worry about the tracking. Can anybody speak on the pros vs cons? Thank you, JJ

Go with the wider one, you will not regret it. More room to tie things down, etc. and that 450 won’t even know it is back there.
I put many mile on a 8.5 X 38 gooseneck behind an F350 dually. No problem.
I agree, if that trailer will be following an F-450 all the time get the wider one! Also be sure to get it high enough so that you aren't having to watch your head whenever inside it, again that truck won't hardly know it's back there.
I bought this for future SXS hauling but it's getting a lot of use moving and hauling everything else. 18+2 x 102" wide ATC Quest aluminum cargo trailer. I opted for the barn doors since I load things in with a fork lift. I also opted for the wood walls and floors for the usage I had in mind. Looking back I wish I had splurged a little more on the interior. I added an extra foot of height to be sure we have enough clearance for the SXS so it does create a little bit of extra drag. Nothing the 6.7 can't overcome, albeit at the expense of a few mpg's. This thing pulls great. 6000# torsion axles, electric/hyd discs, load range G tires, loading lights in the rear spoiler, and electric jack. ATC makes really nice trailers. Something like this would look good behind that F-450.
Wider trailer, stand up height or taller if you use it for other things, like moving household goods. A heavy duty ramp rear door, not the flimsy light weight ones that the "bargain" trailers come with. Look very closely at the rear door before you buy.
I did not use this trailer to haul motorcycles, but it would have done it well. I personally like to buy equipment for more than one dedicated use, so wanted one big enough to haul household goods and also a car if needed.
The enclosed trailer will have more wind drag, but with a diesel truck you won't feel it near as much as a gas engine truck will.

That is sharp! It sounds like a beast too. I am not looking for something that heavy duty, but I am looking at 8.5’x18-20’ with 6’6” head room. I think I am going to make the 5 hour trip Monday to bring one home.

Thanks. Have a safe trip and be sure to show us what you got.
HOA's suck too. Some of these pompous asses around here won't allow a dually in the driveway. My son used to drive the F-550 home (previous condo he lived in when he first got married) but the neighborhood nannies sent him a letter and saying work trucks are not allowed. Granted it is a flat bed and not a pickup. Nice homestead you have there.
Let ‘em complain! The house is sold and the movers will be here two weeks from today. Going to do the full time 5th wheel for a few years, or as long as my wife and daughter allow. Lol

Congratulation. I am jealous. I have a couple of years left (the kids in the trailer are grandkids). Be kind to us poor working stiffs and post pics of your adventures so we can see how the other half lives.

what did you get for a 5th wheel? I have a puny little 38' Outback Travel Trailer now that I tow with my Excursion. Just wondering how big of beast you got??
