My '02 F 350 Super Duty 7.3, starting this season blows quite cold air initially but after 10 minutes or so the temp suddenly rises to ambient and occasionally accompanied with an odor similar to defrosting an ole school home fridge/ freezer. After some time the air will become cold again. I've discovered that if I'm quick enough and can get the truck to engage passing gear and raise the eng RPM's briefly that I can often times cause the temp to drop back down to colder. The system has correct charge ( tested new reclaim machine. Recovered, pulled overnight vacuum and recharged) and until the last couple of months not given any problems. I'm thinking I'll change the orifice screen since it's the cheapest and quickest on the list and with my limited budget and time..... I can't find anything though referencing the specific location in my year/ model. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

It's not your orifice tube. Your symptom is a common one of a clutch that is not engaging with the compressor.

98% probability it's a worn clutch. Check the clutch gap, it should be between .014 and .030". When they get above .040 or .050, they become intermittent and can either slip, fail to engage, or otherwise become intermittent.
