well iam having no luck what-so-ever finding this motor i am looking for a 70's to early 80's 351w just need the block and heads everything else is optional does anyone have any opinions??? the junkyards around my area really suck and dont have anything close to what iam looking for .... any help is much appreciated
I can relate to your problem, when I was looking I called the state over looking for something found one sitting in a truck in the back of a garage. I went ahead and had mine rebuilt, took the machine shop two days to find one and in the end they ended up rebuilding mine and giving it back, if they couldn't find one easily who can.
You know if I am not mistaken there are a lot of fellows on www.corral.net who say they can find 351w easily. This topic came up and on how hard it was to find the 351 and they seemed to think they were plentiful. As mentioned ebay usually has one or two. Have you considered going with a 94+ block you could have the roller option then engine code (F4TE if interested)? Just a thought, Good luck
appreciate the help ..no havent tried e-bay yet i found one in NC but iam in missouri ... could be a bad deal on shipping ...i have thought about roller but not quite for sure yet i think i might just stick with standard hydrolic but i do appreciate the info
Well all told all you really get with the roller blocks are predrilled and tapped holes between the lifter bores you can actually do this to any block with a little research as you do need to do different things in order to make a non roller a roller besides drill a couple of holes. Keep in mind just because it is roller ready doesn't mean it has to be a roller the first generation lightning blocks were mostly F4TE blocks and none of them actually had roller cams they were roller ready but all used flat tappet cams. If I come across anything I will let you know, Good luck
Don't know if it helps any but last week there was a 351 for sale in the Kansas City Star. Not sure how close to KCMO you may be but you can probably look it up online. I threw my paper away so I am not sure what page it was on. Have a grand day...
I have a 74? 351 windsor w/aftermarket 4 barrel intake along w/ fmx auto that is going to be removed in next couple mo's if my health will let me. When I got truck the previous owner said they were ok ,all tho I have not heard them run. The dist missing along w/carb. I plan on putting in a 5.0 and selling this unit .I realize that I am in OHio and the drive may be a problem but cheaper than shipping. Price $300 for unit my garage.
I just had open heart surgery and can't work on truck for awhile.
