I've got the 295/65/20 Toyo Open Country AT2 on my 2017 f250 CCLB. I find them great in the snow, including with my snowmobile trailer behind me. The only disappoint I've had in them is the ability to clear mud. So I'm looking at my old favorites - the BFG ATs.. hoping they do actually come out with a 295/65/20 this fall like is rumored. But if I didn't have the mud issue, I'd definitely stick with the Toyo. Great tread life so far - I'm going to get at least 35k out of them, and maybe 40.. Road handling is great. Noise is fine.
According to BF Goodrich website, it’s not a rumor...
I am currently running the General Grabber ATX in a 35x12.5x20 size. I absolutely love the tire. I would run this tire again but next time I am trying a 295/65/20. My two choices are the BFG KO2 and the TOYO Open Country CT. Two main reasons for going to a 295/65/20 is load rating, and hoping for a little better MPG and a little better ride with the skinnier/taller tire. Last time I ran the 295/65/20 there was not a lot of choice and no winter rated 3 peak mountain snowflake rating tires available. With the KO2 and TOYO CT now I have a choice of two tires with that rating.
Previous tires I have used in those two sizes are
TOYO AT2 295/65/20 One of the worst tires I have ran on my truck, hard to balance, gravel chewed them up fast, slick when wet.
BFG KO2 35x12.5x20 Excellent grip in winter conditions, and average wear life
Quick review on the General Grabber ATX
-Smooth as butter
-Excellent grip in winter
-Zero noise
-Not available in many sizes otherwise its the only tire I would run.
