Its not hard at all , Even cleaning & repacking the wheel bearings shouldnt take you any more than an hour per side . I saw some Warn standard & premium manaul hubs at Advanced Auto the other day & it seems to me the premium ones where maybe $86 ? I may be wrong , the guy told me the price & I forgot 30 secs after he told me . If you dont already have one , you ll need the Spanner Soccket for the hub removal & installation .
I remember being told that if I went from auto to manuals I'd need something else along with the hubs. I'm not sure what this was as I went from manuals to Warn Premium Manuals. They cost me $78 from the Ford dealership. And yes, you'll need the spindle nut socket.
It is funny that you mention it. I just put some in my '96 tonight. I put warn premiums. I live in Minnesota and have learned not to trust palstic in the cold weather. Thats why I went with all metal construction. It is very easy to do. You WILL NEED a 4WD nut socket. Also with the warns, you MUST purchase a new bearing/washer kit. Follow the instructions and you will find that it is easy. It is also a good idea to repack the bearings while you're in there. The whole process takes about an hour. Good luck!
NAPA has the spanner socket for $15 and I think Autozone has them. You'll also want to obtain something like a dental pick with a firm hooked point to dig the retainer ring out of it's groove. This holds in the entire hub assembly. I wasted a ton of time the first time I tried it without a pick. With a pick it was seconds until the ring was out.
