Can anyone advise me on an aftermarket carb for my 1986 F250 460.automatic. I would like some type of a bolt on performance carb that requires little or no.modifications for fitting and no EGR because my truck has emissions removed.
Thanks for the help
I like Holley carbs. That is what was on it from the factory, but it was a special emissions carb built for Ford by Holley. Any aftermarket type carb is going to require some modifications to make it fit, even if you buy a aftermarket holley to replace the holley that was on it. Usually the fuel line has to be cut off and a fuel filter and hose has to be used to hook up the fuel line. The PCV valve hose may be in a different place, small things like that.
With the EGR, it depends on what type you have. If you have the spacer type EGR, you will need to buy another spacer that does not have the EGR feature, but keeps the carb approx the same height it was stock. If you have the EGR cast into the intake, there is no getting rid of it, you will just have to block it off, unless you get a new intake also.
