I don't have one for my SuperDuty, but I do for my old truck. It's a 1978 F150 Ranger Explorer with an original 1977 Ford topper. Sadly, this beautiful forest was cut down to build more housing communities. It was a great place to hike at one time.
@drm4633 not sure of the brand, guy was advertising on facebook aluminum toppers. He had one on his truck, looked good, well built. Same idea as the RSI, but half the cost. Topper and drivers side cubby was about $3500. Just waiting for it to arrive.
Anymore pictures? Still didn't buy one. Only put 1500 miles on the 99 last year so can't justify one yet. I'm nearing retirement and would like to get a newer truck before then. Since Ford dropped Iconic Silver, I probably won't order new. Web search had a used 22 with a cap and need to think about what that is worth. So bringing this back. Thanks.
When I had my '99' had this Leer cap on it.
'12'
'21' with cap.
One thing for sure caps aren't cheap but sure nice for keeping things dry especially if you live where it snows.
Not my truck, but I've ordered the same topper for my '22 Silver crew cab, SRW, 4x4 XLT. I'll make a custom ladder/roof rack for it when it arrives. Half the cost of the RSI SmartCap, I couldn't justify $7000 for a topper and a drivers side cubby.
The RSI Smart caps and OVS toppers are stainless steel and can hold 700lb on top. The smart cap also has a cool front window slider and port for cab light and rear view camera view into the interior.
Where does everyone rate the quality of the various cap manufacturers?
I had one dealer say that SnugTop is top-of-the-line, with Leer running second, and A.R.E third or farther down the line, although that may have more to do with the fact they don't carry A.R.E..
A salesman is going to tell you that their most expensive stuff is the best on the market, almost every time. And nine times out of ten, people will tell you that what every they spent a lot of money on is the best too. The fact of the matter is, they are mostly the same quality. Just buy one that YOU like and be done with it. This goes with darn near everything; trucks, tires, lift kits, boats, toppers, tractors, etc, etc.

How do these Aluminum versions compare?
I've been told my topper should be in town for the end of the month, I'll do an update when I get it put on the truck.

Ive had all three over the years. The SnugTop was the nicest and most dry. Wish I’d gone Snug for my latest topper. It’s the most expensive.
The ARE Z-Series is next; good quality, but functionally not my favorite. I didn’t like how far forward the back door was angled. It cut down on cargo height at the back of the bed, and rain would run to the top of the door/window and dump into the bed when open.
The Leer if have now (Covid build) is the leakiest I’ve ever had. The openings for the windows and brake light look like they were cut in the dark on a Friday afternoon with a dull Harbor Freight knock-off RotoZip. Many gaps, inconsistencies.
Leer and Snug are co-owned now, a change since I had my SnugTop. I don’t know if quality is still as high as it was. They’re not built in the same place, or even the same state, so hopefully still premium quality.
