I did the mod but have not really used it. If one lived int he cold country, it might be good for warm ups. And it is not a bad idea for when using a winch of even boosting off a vehicle with dead battery.
Very easy to do but one needs to be a contortionist to get to the wires from one of the 10 amp upfitter switches
Ha! That’s true, I remember that! I use it a fair amount in the winter to keep truck warm and ice off windshield....these trucks will idle themselves cold so there’s no heat!
That install does not look horrible at all. Hmm...faster warm ups in the winter??
Damn that's expensive!
I purchased a 20k resistor for about $.05 (shipping was $4.00) and used 2 butt connectors and some heat shrink tubing to achieve 1200rpm by flipping #4 upfitter with the parking brake engaged. No need for a variable RPM. Works great for warming the cab during the winter.

I'd pay that just for the instructions and the variable RPMs. Sure, they are making some money in what it cost to manufacture, but to me, it's the simplicity of the install that makes it worth the $75.

I paid way less than that for what I thought was a simple install AND variable RPMs by following this YouTube video
Okay, I'm learning as I go. I read the BD Diesel's kit install directions again and apparently you have to have the parking brake on. That I don't like...I haven't finished watching the whole video but will.
I did the Super Duty Related Bulletins page on the Ford Body Builder Advisory Service site here:
Here's the SVE bulletin for the 2011 to 2016 Engine Stationary Elevated Idle Control from the page I posted above. There's all years on that page going back to 1991.

I stand corrected. Thanks for posting that link. Watched the whole video and if I do it, I would go this route. Maybe even rewire the power for the upfitter switch I use so I could use with remote start. Good stuff....
