I have a 1986 f150 4x4 5.0 with a 4sp np435. It’s time to rebuild the trans so I figured now was a good time to do the other stuff. I know they use either a 10” or 11” clutch so I removed the trans today and then the clutch so I could measure what I had. It measures 10 3/8 inches. So almost 10.5”. Does that mean I have a 10” or an 11”? Just want to make sure I get the right replacement when I order. Thanks in advance.
P.S. Does your flywheel have two sets of bolt holes for the pressure plate? Some do. The outer set is for the 11 inch clutch, the inner set for the 10 inch clutch.
Yeah I looked them up and that’s all I could see too. I believe if does have both sets but I need to look. Didn’t really pay attention when I removed it. I will head back out to look.
So it appeared it was mounted to the flywheel on the outer most holes. The other threaded holes are closer to middle of the flywheel
Well, I would buy the 11 inch clutch. Even if you did have the 10 inch originally, why not buy the 11 inch as a upgrade? But it sounds like you may have had the 11 inch version if it was on the outer set of holes.
