Winch options

Soooooo my RH Legend front bumper has a 2 inch receiver so my only option is a receiver mount for it and run leads to the back if need be . What is the ideal pull weight for the rear tow hitch ? I know front receiver is rated at 9500 lbs , my truck with a full tank and me is 9300 lbs .😕 Also if pulling from upfront how do I strengthen the receiver so if there is a slight angle it wont rip off . I dont plan to get stuck but better to have and not need plus it someone is stuck I'd like to help them . Winter is coming and these people out here suck at driving .Thank you

When I do super heavy on my front bumper hitch I wrap a thick chain around the hitch and hook terminate each end to the tow hooks.

What do you think the Max you can pull with it in the 2" receiver and a thick chain wrapped around it and to the tow hooks as you have said ? Also what is your winch setup if you dont mind , I'd like to get a really nice one but I just can't wrap my head around spending a $1000 for a wench there were only used a couple times I got a really good buddy who has a Smitty and Another one who has a HF 12000 . Both of them have not had any issues with them

My chain wrapping excursive is for when I back in my 10k trailer into parking spots which is a lot easier than trying to use the rear hitch. My thinking is the chain wrap across the hooks will give me more tongue weight .i don’t think the chain wrap adds anything to the straight line pull.

my front hitch is a 9k straight line pull and 500lb young weight.

i wouldn’t be a freight to put ac12k winch on my front witch because there are loop back devices that you can use to terminate the cable to one of your hooks which in theory would give you 2:1 instead of 1:1, increasing your which power while decreasing your winch load since the tow hook would get part of the load (50% if cable length from hook to load and winch to load was the same, etc)

I have a smittybuilt and used to have a harbor freight. Both worked when I needed them to.

I've had a few brands of winches over the years. Harbor Freight will fail you. Smittybuilt are decent, but Warn is hands down the BEST. Best warranty, best performance, best support as well. I run a 12k on a winch bumper for the front. Bumper is bolted directly to the frame, and if you use a ****** block, you can exceed basically anything you ever dreamed of pulling out.

After experiencing the same problem with two different Mile Marker winches, I would not go with that brand. Warn gets my vote.

On my Titan I had a Mile Marker winch mount rated for 9500 lbs (same as the winch). I did one off angle recovery that was almost 90°. It wasn't at the limit of the winch/mount though. Maybe 60%.

When I was younger I used to drool over the MM hydraulic winches. Thanks for reigniting those feelings haha

Last I looked, they still have them. They're run off of the power steering pump.

I made a custom 1/4" plate winch mount I don't need anymore. Where are you located OP?

I testes the HF12000 and posted result here on this site. It's really more like a 9k or so.
