Annoying "reduced engine power"

I have a 40 ft 5th wheel trailer and when the computer decides to reduce engine power while towing on the hiway I am really p/od. The only way to get my power back is to pull over , turn off the truck, and restart. The manual says this is normal as it is cleaning the exhaust filter, but then says to see an authorized ford dealer. I have a 2011 6.7l f350. Is there something in need of repair or do I just put up with this new habit of my truck?

Does the check engine light come on / is it on all the time? If so do you have an ODB reader? There should be one or more trouble codes which you can access with an ODB reader that will start you down the path of determining what is wrong with the truck. The truck should not go into low power mode when doing a regen. Regens should be totally transparent, something is wrong with the truck.

1. Is the engine temperature rising above normal?
2. Are you towing with the OD on or off?
3. Does this happen only with hilly terrain?

My 11 was doing that when the turbo was going out, and the DPF was plugged up.

Not normal. Read the codes to determine what is wrong. I can drive cross country up in the rockies towing heavy and never lose power.

any updates on this? I had a few situations where my truck goes into reduced engine power once a regen starts.
