Rear spring help

I have recently traded F250's. My old one had overload springs and this one does not. I tow a 5th wheel and my pin weight with my 5th wheel is about 2400 pounds. I am seeing about a 2" sag when towing. I am not hitting the bump stops while towing. I am looking at 2 ways to stop this. The first is air bags just to stop the sag. The second is Supersprings SSA16's. I like the idea of the Supersprings but, I am afraid that it may lead to the next weakest link whatever that may be. I have read that sometimes can cause frame cracks. I am not really a fan of Timbrens. Any thoughts, experiences, or ideas are welcome.

How do you want your truck to ride when it is unloaded? Most people install Air Bags to help level their truck when loaded.

I am really not concerned about the ride as a 3/4 ton truck is what it is. A truck. I don't want it to ride like a tractor at 55 MPH! I know do know that in order to gain something I am more than likely going to have to give up something. Thanks for all the input!

I was not happy with the sag either. Years ago I used Timbren helper/rubber spring things on my last F250, but wanted something better and more adjustable on this truck.

Like many others, I went with airbags (AirLift 5000) ......................BUT........................ I also added a secret weapon that a lot of people don't know about......

TorkLift StableLoad wedges.

When you need them, you rotate them into place and they fill the gap between your overload leaf springs and the main spring pack.
They make the overloads start doing their job BEFORE the truck sags several inches like normal before they hit.
When you're done towing, you rotate them out of the way and go back to factory ride.

I engage the StableLoads, hook up the trailer, then use the airbags to level out.

Before StableLoads it would take 60+ psi to get level. After StableLoads it only takes about 30-40 psi to get level.

And having the steel overload springs doing more of the work seems to make the truck feel much more planted. Less like you're riding on a air filled rubber bouncy ball. lol

My only complaint about the StableLoads is the price. They're over $300 (Amazon link) for some metal plates cut into wedges and some generic hardware to hold them on.

But they work. Plain, simple, nearly indestructible, and effective.

Like they say, you gotta pay to play...... and no ever bought an RV to save money! LOL!!

I am afraid I do not have overload springs. My other one did not squat as bad as this F 250 does. I did look at them though.

I'm almost positive ALL of us at least have the lower overload leafs. The big thick fat one at the bottom of your leaf spring pack. It probably has a gap between it and the rest of the leafs. You're probably thinking about the upper overload leaf that comes with the camper package or something. I don't have that one either.

Just to be clear, the thick lower leaf is the overload spring. The optional upper spring some truck come with is the Auxiliary Spring.

For those that want to add them, all of the parts are available through Ford. Cost is approximately $450 for everything. I added them to my 06 F250.

Looking at your pictures, that is about how much I am squatting. 1 1/2" - 2" sound right?

@Torklift Sheryl is a forum vendor and may be able to help with a better deal.

RAS or Roadmaster Active Suspension is also another option.
