ACC problems
The plug was clean and seated and sensor seems secure. I checked it and threw a little dialectric grease on it today.
The only other odd behavior I’ve noted is the pre-collision warning goes off briefly when approaching and passing through random green traffic lights. On one road it my go off on 2 or 3 of 7 lights seemingly without any pattern. It’s as if the light systems have some kind of interference with the pre-collision system.
Is this common and/or is it a “give to dealer and hope they throw enough parts at it” fix?
There is one intersection in my city that causes my pre collision alert to go off 50% of the time. From what I’ve seen, it can be normal.
I've had my ACC shut off, reporting the sensor was blocked during severe snowstorms in Utah. This is not your problem as the plastic cover was truly covered with snow.
I've also had the ACC shut off multiple times despite the fact that the sensor was NOT blocked. This was after I had tried to remove the unit, to allow access to the bumper tow hook bolts behind it to drop the bumper. I fixed it by adjusting the angle of the ACC unit itself; I think I had screwed it in too far thus changing the angle of the sensor. Not sure if this is relatable or not, but perhaps mark the original position of the bolts, and adjust forwards or backwards to slightly adjust the angle. If it's not the mechanical angle of the sensor, then I suppose I'd suggest to have a dealer look at it.
Or maybe not even mess with it at all, and have the dealership look at it if you don't want them accusing you of mucking with the system.
In steady rain, it shuts down, but I believe the manual indicates that’s normal.
I will run it back to the dealer to check. I just hate giving intermittent problems to them as “cannot duplicate” is often the response. And as a mechanical person, I get that. To their credit, they fixed the nasty rattles I had coming from the roof and under the dash. But that only took a week and half.
The random collision warnings are just freaky. Still wondering what the heck sets it off? Do stoplights have some radar interference or what? Does the camera on the windshield come into play at all? Not a big deal as long as it doesn’t slam on the brakes but still would be nice to know why.
When my ACC faulted while pulling my trailer, I was in and out of rain. It was working in the rain but faulted just after it stopped. Maybe road spray from my tires was doing it. I had the entire highway to myself that day lol
