I recently went through a oil consumption test on my 2018 f150. They changed the pcv valve and the oil, marked my dip stick and off I went. I have little over 2500 miles on the new oil change and the truck has not consumed a single drop. I drove it hard, I towed, I drove it normal and nothing!!!
I have looked everywhere on here and different Discusion boards to see if other members had the pcv valve resolve their issues. I am not 100% sure if my oil consumption has been resolved but I cant find anyone that had the pcv valve changed and had no consumption. I really did not inspect the old pcv valve to compare with the new one.
Prior to this my truck would consume 1 quart every 2000 miles.
Very interesting, a bad PCV valve is on the diagnostic tree for oil consumption on every shop manual I've ever seen. You don't hear about it normally being the cause, but I can't imagine Ford would waste money on parts if there weren't a significant possibility.

Maybe it really is that simple in your case?
I hope so.. I did some research and a bad PCV valve has the stmpton of excesive oil consumption, however I have read many, many, posts regarding this issue and the PCV balve didn’t do crap. I also prefer to keep my stock engine, I hear about many issues with new motors after the swap.
Some people also say that they have gotten a re-built 2018 engine instead of a new 2019.
My 18 f150 5.0 does use a quart of oil about every 5k miles. Not enough for a new engine, but enough to bother me.Does ford have a revised pcv valve thats better than the original that could cut down on oil usage?

From what I can tell the new PCV valve that was put on my truck had different model number then the old one. I did not take a picture of the old one but the numbers on it are different.
I am now at 2500 miles and the oil levels have not budged... I hope it stays like this..
Someone on another site said that they have been ordering the new ones from rock auto... They have some OEM stuff there as well. Apparently the dealers are on some back order for those and the long blocks..

I am a victim of the 2018 5.0L and have undergone a longblock swap. While the new mill burns oil, it’s been a great runner with better mpg’s than the original mill.

I'm currently in the test. I have 2800+ miles and the best I can tell the engine has used 3/4 qt. They did install a new PC Valve at the start and I don't know if its a revised one or not. I do have a Ford Performance oil separator on the engine and it's been there since 50 miles. From the begining of the test I have driven a little harder than normal and used either Tow/Haul or Sport until it warms up.I really do not want them to change the engine due to other thing that are sure to pop up. Murphy's Law......
Sooo I thought that the PCV valve cured the issue on my truck... wile on the test for the first 2000 miles it didnt use a drop, however now I have little over 2400 and it's missing almost a quart... How is this even possible? I have been checking the oil on the same spot, I always made sure the engine is warm and waited at least 30 min before checking the oil.. I see no leaks, where did the oil go?
