Has any one had there 6.7 F250 catch on fire shortly after a fuel filter change. Mine caught on fire on sep 26 three days after filters were changed. We were driving on I95 low engine power message came on followed by low fuel pressure message went on to exit ramp and the truck exploded and burst into flames. We were trailing fuel. I have found other incidents of this after a filter change. My insurance just wants to give me payoff. I am out thousands of dollars. Any ideas or help sure would be appreciated.
Dang, sorry about that. I'm afraid with insurance, if you're getting payoff, I'd say count your blessings. I'm not sure what you are expecting from them. Did you do the filter change, or a shop somewhere? If you did the change yourself, you're probably out of luck. If a shop did it, you can try and go after them if you can find they were at fault somehow. Either way it doesn't sound good. Good luck.
I am going to try and go after the shop I have had several people tell me of the same problem. Some were caught before the fire some not. There were no problems prior to the filter change.
You need to research and see if what brand that everyone was using when it caught fire. Research if there is any special procedures that Ford requires for changing fuel filters to see if the shop is falling those procedures.
You are wasting your time looking for help on a message board. If a shop’s service caused this, you need an attorney for any chance at recouping your loss due to an underwater loan (which I assume is why you are stating you are “out thousands”).
Long road ahead might not end with a satisfactory ending. Only an attorney can help you.
