Guys I have a 73 f100 2wd with a 302 and the original ford big can style power steering pump. I want to replace it with a Saginaw style pump. My question is does anyone know if the stock line has the same size fitting if not is there an adapter I could use. Also has a one one done this and regretted getting away from the ford pump?
You should be able to buy a line with right fittings. Econoline vans had Saginaw pumps in them. I did the swap on my 1995 and my 1976, and was very happy with both of them
Musclecar 87,
Almost two years on my 77 F-150 I swapped out the OEM Ford Thompson power steering pump for the Saginaw. Got everything from Wild Horses located in the Sacramento, CA area. In addition to swapping out the power steering pump, I changed the sterring gear box that I got from Ryan at Blue Top located in North Dakota. No more leaks and it steers like it was new. The steering gear boxes both Blue Top and Red Head sell are better then the new orgianls. Red Head is out of the Seattle, WA area and both are related (supposedly there counsins).
Wild Horses like Blue Top offer top notch customer service.
