fuel gauge glitch??
I've got a 17 with 15K miles and for the last two years every time I would fill it up the distance to empty reading on the fuel gauge would always read 500-540 depending on how full I would try to get it.
For some reason however... now when I fill it up it reads 600- 640. It's like something went wrong with the computer and changed the 5 to a 6... Anybody else experience this?
I just got back from a trip and when I got down to a quarter of a tank I would start hunting fuel as the 200 something miles it would say I had left, I think was really 100 something. Could this thing have re-set itself to kilometers? I does say "miles" to empty...
Thanks

I don't remember how I got there in the menu but I know when I changed the mpg from normal to towing it changed the readout by about 150 mpg. It's in the dashboard menu. If I get time later today I'll try to find it. I bet somehow that got changed on your truck and that's why you're seeing a difference.

I was under impression it self adjusted kind of based on your previous trip. Eg if I use my truck for work I idle for upwards of 12hrs with maybe a few hundred kms during that day. If i fill up itll show in mid 400kms till empty. If I drive all highway home, shutoff and refill all of a sudden my liters to empty will be up around 700kms till empty.

This is what I’ve done since day one.
Reset both trip computers and use one for daily usage and don’t touch the other one.
After awhile or after several fill ups including resets of the trip computer you use every day, compare the two and you’ll get your average miles to empty.

Yep, this is what that setting does. I don't remember the exact numbers, but it's something like towing off, DTE is averaged over last 400 miles, and on, it's averaged over last 50. Non towing setting keeps the DTE more stable, and towing setting is more volatile. I run mine on towing all the time, so one fillup I might see 400 kms to empty, the next 700 kms. As I drive around, it's bouncing all over the place.
