Hey guys! Just got a 2008 yesterday. I’m having 2 separate issues (maybe totally related) with the fuel gauge and miles to empty. When I started the truck the first time, there was 3/4 tank as I recall. Second time showed nearly full. Third time showed full and 4th time showed about 1/2 tank. I’ve driven about 200 miles and have added ZERO gas. All times fuel gauge dropped as I thought it should given the distance i drove that trip.
Second issue may or not be related. Miles to empty seemed to drop at a fairly alarming rate. On trip 3 and 4, I noticed miles to empty dropped 5 miles when the odometer showed 1.1 miles. The odometer seems fairly accurate. Both times I was rolling at about 55 mph and running about 1800 rpm.
One person suggested fuel sending unit. Any way to verify that without pulling the tank or bed?
