I was in the UP of Michigan going 65mph and heard a bang. Battery light came on and no PS so I pulled off. I found the pulley gone on the SD double pulley set up mod that I did. Three years ago I thought I heard a squeaking noise coming from that area so I replaced it. I had that one in my 'extra' parts bin thank goodness. Another lucky thing is that the pulley didn't go thru my radiator!!
Just use a razor blade & gently pry up on the outer lip of the seal. It should be in a slight recess, clean and grease.
The outer lip should snap back in when installing.

Thanks, I'll give that a try when I get home.

I didn't seem to matter how fast I got pulled over because the belt was shredded and the pulley was gone with the wind. My wife saw a smile on my face and she said that I was happy because I could work on my truck. I told her that I was happy that I had the part to fix it and get off the side of the road! In twelve years of six month 10K mile trips I've been on the side of the road too many times but what do I expect with a 22 year old truck?
Tell me you didn't break down on the Seney 24mi.
straight section.
In 1979 I blew a timing gear on 1973 Saab 96 on new years day.
Disassembled the front end, took apart the motor, hitchhiked to Marquette.
Found the only Saab in town.
Took it off the motor, hitchhiked back. Assembled it in the dark with a flashlight.
All the parts were layed out on a 4 ft. snowbank.
First crank it started & drove to Houghton.
The heater in that Saab was bigger than the motor.
That's a big break down for you Bob! I have two big ones, 5-6 years ago my trunk burned up and last year blew a hole in pistion #8. This pulley is minor in comparison! I was on highway #2 almost to Manistique.

Thats always a good day when you can fix it and drive on
Good thing you had that part in hand, i too keep some essential "hard to find" parts in the back seat.
Safe travels Glenn.
I do have a bunch of spare parts with me. When it happened I couldn't remember if I had brought it along but sure glad I did. Got the new one from Clay yesterday. Thanks Adam!

That's for sure John, after getting the old part and serpentine belt out of the camper I was delighted. Man that motor was hot to work on!
Just the other day I was thinking,Glenn must be having better luck this year, because we hadn’t heard much from you. Glad you had the part to get you going again!
The old OX has been running good Tom, I sure can't complain. This setup I have now works better then any thing I've had in the past but this 5er is really heavy! I'm going to get on a scale eventually and find out for sure.
Hey bud! Glad you did get lucky Glenn and the trucks working well. I finally got the bugs out of mine. I had it set at 85 the other day with the trailer loaded all the way with both cars, no problem. I don't usually do that, but was in a hurry.
Continued safe travels and have fun! How soon you heading home?
