It's a simple plug and play to eliminate the double honk, took 10 seconds to install. For me the double honk is a super annoying part of the current super duty trucks.
Yes, it's not for everyone, but for a non windows user/purchaser, and the time it takes to learn Forscan, it was an easy choice for me.
I can agree with that. Although I did buy a cheap Lenovo box just for FORscan, it's slower than slow and very maddening to a person who's strictly a Mac user in every other aspect of technology that I own.
I have an '18 6.2 XL and it usually only does this when you try to lock the doors with one or more not closed all the way. Interestingly, it also does it if the hood is open and you try to lock the doors. For those that have the double-honk happening, do you have remote start and/or push-button start?

I have remote start with Ford modules that I self installed. It's the older style that can be used with Ford's Remote Access app on the phone as well as a bidirectional fob that I bought separately.

The “double horn honk” people are describing is what happens when you leave the truck running and walk away from the vehicle with the key fob on push start vehicles. The truck does a double horn honk to remind you that the truck is still running. So yes, push start only and I believe all push start vehicles have the command start. (In Canada they all do)

You don't even need to buy a separate computer as long as your Mac is recent (i.e. Intel processor and possessing Bluetooth). Forscan works using WINE. Another way to do it for free is use VirtualBox (free) with a copy of Windows 10 downloaded from Microsoft (free). You don't even have to bother activating it (which would make it not-free).

The only problem with that is that my Mac computer is a desktop. Other than that I have an iPhone and an iPad, no laptop.
