Question Corn Burning Stoves

Anyone here have/use a corn burning stove? I'm pondering getting one this year b4 winter hits. They're raising nat. gas prices by 70%. Just considering one, Anyone's experiences, Please?

I assume you've seen this article: http://www.magnumfireplace.com/p_startrib.cfm
As stated in the article, make sure you've got a good source for corn.

I haven't used one, but I do have a pellet stove. It's a pain in the posterior. It needs cleaning about every two months. There's a temp sensor that gets caked with ash, so I have to remove the stove from the fireplace and partially disassemble the thing to get at the sensor. However, I still enjoy the stove and it's cheaper than the electric heat even though I keep the house warmer. One local stove dealer stopped selling pellet stoves because of the complaints from customers who had problems similar to what I was experiencing. A free standing application would make the job easier.

Before you buy a stove, make sure you know what the maintenance is like. If the corn stove you want has any sensors in the exhaust gas stream, make sure that access is easy or else just accept the fact that you may have to clean it every so often.

Around here there are several people burning "corn"! The by product is Moonshine and they call the stove a "Still"!

Wood pellet stoves are good as long as you keep the pellets dry. Only bring one bag in at a time. Place were I use to live, we did not have to clean the stove at all during the winter. Just empty the ash every once in a while.

I do prefer a plain old wood stove with a fan added on. It is very hard for them to break down

I have spoken with a pellet stove dealer and he told me that pellet stoves can burn corn and the only difference in them is the type of grate used in the stove to catch the fuel as it is augered in.
Whether he used cracked corn or whole corn I don't know.
