2003 F150 Transmission Rebuild Question
Hey there, I am down to the final step of rebuilding the transmission. When I tore it down, the beige selective thrust washer was melted. Can I put the new one back in without measuring everything again with a gauge bar and depth micrometer as I don’t have one? Can I measure it without those tools? I am referring specifically to the reverse clutch drum thrust face and the spacing between it and the oil pump. Thank you for any help.

You've probably finished the rebuild but I would suggest you look closely at the color. The beige and yellow thrust washers are very similar in shade when used. When I rebuilt mine there was no end play before tearing down the trans and it had a beige washer. It had been rebuilt before as everything was good except a worn rear one-way clutch and a thrust needle bearing with a chip out of the washer. After the rebuild it still had no end play and it took the yellow washer to meet spec. Just attach a vise grip to the input shaft and make sure there is at least a little end play.
