41 1 ton?

We have a 41 1 ton pickup at work and they are wanting to upgrade the brakes. Parts seem to be a lot harder to come by for the 1 tons so I'm looking into upgrading the brakes on it. Is there a spindle out that that we could swap on the front to be able to swap it to front disc brakes? Ideally i would like to swap to the 1/2 fronts because parts seem to be much more plentiful as far as aftermarket parts and brake upgrades.

I seem to remember that mid 80's F250 spindles can be made to work on the big truck front axles but then again my memory isn't what it used to be.

The tonner axle is much more like the 1/2 ton than the big truck. It may even be the same. The king pins for the tonner are same as 1/2 ton for sure. Maybe talk to Chuck at Chuck's Trucks in Conneticut.

I would think to check to see if the 1 ton spindles are the same as the 1/2. If they are then you can just get a disc brake kit for a 1/2 ton and you'll be set.

I have the Ford chassis parts catalogue (aka the green bible) and it appears that in 1941, the 122" tonner used the same front spindles as the commercial 1/2 ton and the passenger car. In '42 the spindles became specialized in some way for the 122" only. For whatever reason the chart only shows the part number for the right side 11A 3105. Following the way all the others are listed should make the left side a part # 11A 3106. Hope this helps. I would love to see a photo or two of this truck!

01Y-3105 Right & 01Y-3106 Left .. Spindles / Obsolete

1940/41 122" wheelbase, 1 ton trucks.

Commercial (1/2 ton) is not the same.

I don't have my Green Bible handy, but check to see if the axle itself is the same number. I know the '42-'47 Commerical and toner used the same axle. So 1/2 ton spindles could be used on an axle on a Tonner.
