Track Bar
Back again this time as the title suggest Track Bar troubles.
My son's 99 F350 4x4 early build track bar bracket broke. We are in the process of trying to figure which way to go for the repairs.
In research it looks like there was a change from early 99 to later builds for the SD. What was the difference from early to later builds other than the mounting bolt sizes? Giving thoughts to upgrading to later build if possible and also adding adjustable track bar to the truck. Or will we be better off just keeping it old version?
Thanks
Tim
If you don't know you can use 2000 front bearings and rotors. to eliminate the older bearings and rotors.
Early 99 and some 2000 trucks use the smaller bolt diameter for the track bar. If you want to upgrade youll need a late model 2000 and up frame bracket, track bar and then drill out the hole on the axle bracket....
SINCE your axle bracket sheared off id go to PMF website and order their weld-on heavy duty axle bracket then install the newer larger track bar and a bracket off the laye model 2000-04 super duty
Second the front wheel bearings are interchangeable BUT some 99/00 did not have front abs. And them years had course thread studs, them ford went to fine thread. Not a big deal but youd need 16 fine thread lug nuts and youd have to make sure not to flip flop the lugs front to back.... i soak mine in light oil once a year then let them drip dry for a day. Keeps them looking new and oiled between the nut/washer
