What is this?
On the back of my F450 just forward of the rear hitch. Looks like maybe an inertia sensor.

Thought I read somewhere on here that it is a dampener for the suspension.

It's a vibration damper. Ford calls it a cage damper. Lots of complaints of F450's vibrating or 'hopping' at speed. This was Ford's band-aid to fix the problem.

I guess Ford thinks they have solved the problem; no dampener on my 2022. I think that was Ford's version of a centramatic for the frame.

Interesting that this TSB was for 2011-2016 SD's, but there was one on my 2019 and not on my 2022.
