JChets Orange
So I mentioned this one in the what have you done to your truck thread a couple days ago. I don't know the whole backstory of it before it started finding it's way to me...
My dad found it & brought it home for my brother while he was deployed a few years ago so he'd have a 4x4 to use around his acreage. He decided that he wasn't going to give it to him (somewhere I've mentioned that my dad loved these old trucks too).
So now it's found it's way to me & I finally found the time to go get it & bring it home. I had to trailer it home as it had developed a non starting issue a couple of years ago.
I decided it had to back itself off the trailer & I had been thinking the fuel pump had quit. Blew the line out back to the tank and it now flows pretty good. Starts easily everytime I've tried since getting it fired up.
So without further ado...
The box is at my brother's place, I haven't seen it in awhile so I'm not sure exactly the shape it's in but I didn't think it was horrible when dad took it off. I'm hoping I can still use it simply for the fact that it matches.
I put the wheels & tires & pos batt cable on from the 77 SC that'll donate it's body to the 79 SC 4x4. Thinking I may swap carbs as I rebuilt that carb a few years ago & the orange truck feels like it has a light shudder when revving, gummy?
Anyway, I haven't done much of anything yet other than that.
Plan is pretty much just to clean it up & drive it off & on with a light upgrade here & there maybe.

Yeah I thought the brush guard was pretty cool when he brought the truck home & tried to talk him out of it for my SC. I'll probably just keep it with this truck now. Hopefully I can get the back half of the frame cleaned up & some paint on it & hopefully the box for this truck isn't horrible, I really dont remember how bad it was... but yeah I need to give it a good scrub & get some polish on it. I am impressed with how solid the cab is.

Ok just re-found this thread I'd started for this truck. I had put the truck in the shed for the upcoming deployment where Rich and I oddly enough ran into each other.
So I got home late 2020 in time for Thanksgiving and started getting settled back in, started dealing with a neighbor property line dispute they brought up after I left the country. Good times right there lemme tell ya...
Anyways, We've started a tradition withmy best friend that he brings his family over to our house for new yrs eve. He'd started asking me what happened to my dads orange truck that had set outside my dads building as he hadn't seen there for some time now. (He drives past my parents house every day)
"It's out there in the shed" I told him. So after breakfast was cleaned up we had to go climb through everything I'd crammed & stacked into the shed so he could see it.
"What're you going to do with it" he asked... "well, idk.. I should probably just sell it so I can thin my herd and focus on my other rigs"
So his wife said it was ok with her and it's now in his garage and I'm happy to say he's jumping right into restoring it and getting his kids involved in helping so it's really becoming a family heirloom for him as well as motivating me to get my butt in gear on mine. I haven't been able to get him to create a profile on here yet but maybe someday.
So here are some updates
So this is his toolbox at work. He's always love the Dukes... so it's fitting that he got an orange truck finally lol
And now the progress he's been making......
Once things warmed up and we ould vet it moved to his house
We decided that the timing chain was probaby worn out.... Replaced but didnt get pictures of new one
Teaching them young
Had a pinion seal leak so it got a lil refresh on the rear diff
Since the bed was off there's no better time. He's got the frame wire wheeled and blasted, treated with por15, new tank...
And even started in on trim items
I may have pics out of order or duplicate, I nose we all like to see pics of these trucks getting brought back. Hope you enjoyed. I'll update more as I get updates

Hey Rich, part of the deal was that if he took it off then it came back to go on my F250SC 4x4. Just haven't had time to go grab it. But I'm really happy with the home I found for the truck as I can visit it lol...

I made him a really good price as we're more like family than just friends. I think I made a good decision from the progress he's had in a few months.
He got it running really nice with the new timing kit and rebuilding the carb but the distributor was seized so he wasn't able to adjust timing, thats his current project is getting that out so he can tune it better.
