Okay were getting down to the brass tacks on my son's super cab and ran into a problem with the mount for the brake light switch. his cab is off a 2wd 1976 f250 camper special it sits on a 79 chassis so I'm assuming that the pedal configuration is original ( and we all know what first 3 letters makes when we do this) so the mounting bracket is set further back on the pedal arm than my 78 f250 super cab the first picture is his bracket on the pedal arm and the other is mine. I will be damned if I can get the switch to work in his comes about 3/4 of an inch short. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Can't be sure looking at them, but one of those brake pedals looks like it's a manual brake and the other for boosted brakes. Should have some information stamped in the pedal itself whether it's for one or the other. Couldn't hurt taking a look.
Just ran into this on my 79 2wd and had a manual pedal but had had a power booster added for power brakes,, I have to get another pedal for proper height as mine was short like yours from engaging , look at numbers an letters on side of pedal arm and post, an NumbersDummy can tell you more info
He can help you, he also posted all the pertinent info a couple of days ago on this subject. Look a couple of posts down, theres a post titled 79 F100 brake pedal. This may be the information you are seeking and may save him from posting it again. It is a pretty interesting read.
1973/76 F250 2WD with 6900/7500/8100 lbs. GVWR's with dual piston caliper disc brakes, 1975/76's without Speed Control.
1973/79 F250 2WD Camper Specials have dual piston caliper disc brakes, so this is the correct brake pedal for 1973/76...except 1975/76 without Speed Control.
I thought the switch pictured was just a secondary switch for cruise vehicles? I added cruise to my 78 and just pulled wiring from salvage yard pedal gone. My truck has switch at rear of booster rod for brake lights. Never plugged in the pedal switch and cruise has been fine for years.
just found out that po put this pedal assembly in so there ya go. Bill thank you much your a life saver,I just saw the post on the 79f100 I thought are you sh&*&ing me that many masters ,pedals and boosters !!!!! no wonder I'm going bald working on these trucks. Thanks again everyone!
