New to forum, I have 2002 f150 FX4, the airbag warning light is flashing a series of 4 and then 7 lights and eventually stays lit. Any idea what this code is and what I can do to fix it, short of taking it to the dealer/
A code 47 means there is a problem with the passenger's pretensioner circuit. As long as the light is on or flashing the airbags are disabled so dont crash
The pretensioner is the seat belt buckle that attaches to the inside of the seat. It has a pretensioner in it that works sorta like an airbag. In the event of an accident it fires off which tightens the seat belt a little extra.
The most common cause I've seen for that code is that someone had their feet or something under the seat and pulled the wiring apart.
Thanks Dave, after reading some of the other posts on possible causes, I checked all the connections under both seats and made sure they were not loose. They did not seem to be, but after I did this the light has not come on again. I'm assuming it corrected the problem.......... I hope..........
Racerguy, I just wanted to say thanks for the info, you saved me a $90.00 service call. I checked under my seats and sure enough, one of my little brats had kicked one of the wire connectors loose.
