I have a msd ignition box that I will be installing on my 66- f-100 w/ 390 in it. I want to put the 8.5mm plug wires on it. From surfing around the only set I found that fits a 390 is 3138 but it says its for 65-78 ford cars. Would these work on my truck?
Yeah, ive got the MSD wires on my truck. I got the universal kit that you have to put together and I was able to cut each wire to the perfect length. That way the engine bay is really clean looking.
All msd kits are make it yourself kits. Its all about the plug and distributer boots and wire length. I just called them and double checked myself. I have a plug wire tool so crimping them isnt a problem. It sucks that they dont make blue wires (my engine is ford blue) cause ford makes 9mm wires but only for mustangs and their high performance cars not the trucks.....o well.
You can get Accel plug wires in 8mm that are blue
Thats why I went w/ them, and you can get them premade also.
Everything under my hood is black or blue or chrome
Motor is old ford blue, alternator is black, pulley for it is blue
Power steering pump is blue, backects black
All bolts for the pulleys are blue
Chrome air cleaner and valve covers
Blue dizzy cap and adapter piece
blue spark plug wires
and a 4 gauge blue power wire running from the battery to solenoid, and then one from the solenoid to starter
and one from the battery to inside fuse box
