Fox body front suspension swap? I have a 63 LWB Unibody. It came to me in mechanically rough condition, No motor or trans, front end shot, just worn out. While looking for a suitable engine/trans combo for it I came across a Fox body Mustang with a fuel injected Hi-Po 5.0 and a T5 5 speed was able to buy the whole vehicle for a reasonable price, (It was wrecked in the rear, needed two quarters and a diff, ouch). I've done a bit of research and seen all kinds of front ends under custom trucks, but never a fox body mustang. The car was a 92 Mustang GT 5.0, T5, with an aftermarket K-member, tubular control arms and adjustable coil over struts. I cut everything off that might be pertinent including the strut towers with bolt holes to locate them to the K-member in order to keep the alignment angles.
248 views and not a single reply. That tells me either everyone thinks I'm an idiot for trying this, or everyone is scrambling to find a fox body and be first ahead of me.
So why won't it work?
Of course it will work. Its more about how adaptive you are with doing things. If it were me. I probably wouldnt put a car set up on my truck. Although i know they do lots of kits for the mustang 2 type to go on half ton trucks.
If i wanted to do it i would check what sort of kits they do for the fox body gear to go on.
Drivetrain sounds good for the truck though.
Fingers crossed it goes to plan if you decide to go this route.
Make sure you get the suspension camber and castor right for the truck.
After much measuring and armchair mechanicing, I have decided to ditch the Fox Mustang and go with the Crown Vic front end. Seems like a no brainer. Picked up an 04 police front end, caliper to caliper for $300. Is there a 5X5.5 hub that will fit the spindles so I can rotate the tires at some point?
