I have a 1976 F250 standard cab 2 wd that I installed new window rubber in all the tracks. I now am having issues with the drivers door window when you roll it down the window starts to **** at a slant and becomes very hard to roll down. If you push down on the front of the window and realign it with the door tracks it will the roll down normally. I do not have the same issue with the passenger door it rolls up and down normally just a little resistance which I think is pretty normal. I have adjusted the track that is a part of the wing window as far forward as I can but it still seems to have some slot in this door frame. Is there another adjustment I am missing on window tracks? Great place here to get advice on these great old trucks. LES Here is the top of the window but it is hard to tell but it is not parallel with the door at this point. This is about when half-way open.
I doubt it has anything to do with adjustments. If the rubber is not pressed firmly and squarely into the track it will cause the window to walk out of the track and the window operation will be tight. Try using a wide blade screw driver to press the seal into the track while push pulling down with the screw driver. There is an area of about 1 inch where the belt goes thru the door window opening and the window wipers meet. Be sure this area lines up correctly or it will bind the glass and leak water when washing or raining.
X2 on is the seal seated all the way in and all the way down the front and rear track? The only adjustment AFAIK is the one bolt near the bottom of the division bar (front) track bar? Are all you connections at the regulator and the lifting arm good? Plastic roller in the groove good? The tilt could be caused by a seal not seated all the way, so it is grabbing on the glass.
I will remove the window again and make sure the seal is seated. There was a lot of the old seal stuck in the track which I tried to clean out. Maybe I missed some debris from the old seal. I didn't use any adhesive in the track to keep the seal in but should I have? The old seal, did seam to be adhered to the track. Les
Ya, I think your window is just misaligned in the track. I had similar problem for a bit when I redid my weatherstripping as well - but I caught it before putting everything back together. It takes a bit of jittering to get the window to actually sit in its proper location.
I would not go thru the process to remove it, just roll it all the way up and with the door panel off get in there and ck the seal on the lower parts of the track (below the anti rattle strips) to be fully seated. Roll it up and then down and watch it for a drag spot inside the door.
Also watch for any of the seal to come out of the track when rolling the window up and down, and if you get an area of the seal that comes out put some adhesive on that area. Roll the window down to hold it in there tight while it dries.
Also you did clean the old grease from the window bracket (#21458) and then relube that area and the roller wheel (#262A32) very well? And maybe try adjusting the fwd trac at the lower end, there is one stud/nut that might have a little adjustment to it.
