Need a little advice and replacing intake manifold gasket 1977 400m
Yeah I miss those trucks. I had a really cool 78 GMC Vandura. It was a short box van with a Pathfinder four-wheel drive kit. Had a 5 inch lift and 33 inch tires. Back in the early eighties that was a real head-turner. Sounds like you have a lot of nice projects on your hands. I did that intake manifold gasket on Friday night and I used the Valley Pan and siliconed it in very neatly. I let it dry for about 30 hours or so before I started it Sounded like I had a little leak at first and then the truck was still running a little rough. I let it run for about 30 minutes let it cool and was able to retorque the bolts a few pounds. The leak completely went away. I think there may have always been a slight leak there since I had the truck but whoever adjusted the carb had it really rich i think tocompensate for it. I severely had a lien it to get it to smooth out and burn clean. Timing was a little further Advanced that I would have put it. Brought that back into spec. What I thought was a PCV valve in there that wasn't hooked up to anything was actually just a breather. I put one in hooked it up to the carb and this thing runs like a top. I definitely appreciate all the help. I got a new fuel tank with the truck when I had bought it. The guy never put it in so that's going to be my next project. That should be a piece of cake
