Intake gaskets

Well my intake is off on my 400, waiting for my single plane to get its injector bungs back. I had a valley pan gasket on it and I had water get between the intake and valley pan? are these things known to leak? just run regular gaskets?

Thanks
Curtis

The valley pan prevents oil from coking on the hot underside of the intake manifold. Normally they do not leak, but you need the valley pan unless you block the exhaust crossover in the manifold. With the crossover blocked, you can just use ordinary gaskets. Some aftermarket manifolds don't have an exhaust crossover and ordinary gaskets are all that's required.
