Lightbulb 2WD transfer case

I was thinking about puttind a NP203 transfer case (or something like it) under my '67 f100 shortbed just to have the lowest geared two wheel drive in town. Anybody done this before? Any advice or problems seen with this project?

Maybe getting a four speed with a granny also.

I'd go with a granny low. Driving a t-case in the L mode is not good for the system at higher speeds (not sure you could go fast enough anyway to keep up with people). I don't think most t-cases are meant to be driven at high speeds. In H mode, the case is 1:1 like your tranny in 4th. An NP435 has a 6.69 granny low. Should be low enough for most any 2wd purposes.

I think you'd find the NP203 idea, although sounds good on paper, to be a pain after a while. It's not synchro'd so you'd have to stop the truck to change out of low, where as with a good 4-spd with a low first, you can just change and go.

Most of the T-cases are 2:1 in low range which makes for a top speed of about 55. It would probably be good for stop light racing, if any body does that anymore, and if the stop lights weren't too far apart
