Looking under the hood of my truck, it looks like someone gave a squirrel some wire nuts and electrical tape so he could rewire the truck. I found various wires unplugged and found some their respective homes while others remain hanging free. I can post some pictures of the connectors in the morning and maybe you guys can work your magic. Also is there a way to check if my cold advance and high idle is working. This is on a 1985 F-250 6.9
just use a test light on the connectors of the cold start advance and the cold Idle solenoid in the morning to see IF you have 12 volts with the key in the run position.
IF so then you can disconnect the wires and you will hear the cold advance click and the same with the cold Idle solenoid, you should also see it move.
when you start the truck after a few minutes the Idle should Drop, and you should no longer have voltage on those 2 solenoids.
If there are wire nuts used in the wiring harness of your truck they should be removed. Use crimp connectors or solder to splice circuits together. Wire nuts are used in residential single strand AC wiring.
Don't worry, my truck had wire nuts in the harness when I bought it too.
Some people shouldn't attempt car repairs. It can often cause more problems than it cures.
