I've been learning and lurking on this forum for the past year of owning my first F150. My problem is I had my keypad stop working and I purchased a replacement from Tasca. No problems installing it and connecting the wiring, but it isn't working. I have power and it lights up when the buttons are pressed, but it won't lock / unlock.
Is there a procedure to have the truck recognize the new keypad, or is Forscan needed possibly? Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks
I'm curious what was wrong with the old keypad. Did it light up etc. like the new one? If so, it might have been a good keypad and something else scrambled.
Thank you for the ideas. I still have the old one and it did not light up for me, and the new one does. I agree it may be something else, hoping some had a similar experience and a good fix to try before u spend cash on the stealership
That makes sense, although I have to include the notion that most folks use their fobs so keypad issues are probably pretty rare just because of that. I hope somebody chimes in with more info for you!
Thank you cathedral. One of my main reasons for this truck was my outdoor hobbies and the gear that goes with it. The keypad is oddly one of my main reasons for choosing the f150 over a Tacoma. U like licking my keys in it so I don't have to worry about them getting lost in the woods or fall in a river

Ummm . . . no I don't!
LOL
I suspect you meant "I like locking my keys in it . . . "
That being the case, I would not rely on the keypad. Another failure or dead battery or etc. and you're locked out and stranded in the woods and/or in a river or something. I'd suggest getting a combination actuated key lock box and mounting it to the frame or one of the padlock types that you can keep inside then lock to the frame or major part when you need it.
I use my code so few times I have to look it up on my phone. My wife and I use the same code so we can drop stuff to each other when needed. However now that we are retired, I work part time, we very seldom use it.
Hi Cathedral, sorry about that, my mistake for having fat fingers and trying to reply on my phone, yes you translated it correctly I appreciate the advise
Ford 390 (one of my favorite engines btw) Which module requires a reset? I have disconnected the battery recently to reset my Bluetooth, should that have served to rest the module?
TJ and glue, thanks for the comments, I would like to keep this on subject to help others in the future and not turn it into a poll about how often you do or don't use it. I use it a lot for many reasons, saved me many trips from the driveway back inside to get my keys when I am already outside doing stuff aside from the other reasons I mentioned
We use the keypads on our Fords all the time. We never carry keys. Been doing that as long as Ford has had them. Never once have we had an issue. Hope you get yours straightened out..

Cheers
Using IDS or Forscan you need to force the BCM module into adaptation reset.
Actually the info you passed on and Ford 390 is very helpful! Just letting you know other folks use them also. When I use it mainly use it now is the same as you, so I don't have to go back in to get a key (fob) both our vehicles are push button start. Mine is on me if I am not in bed, the wife's almost never. I still have to check her oil or tire pressure.
No Harm no Foul,

It didn't factor into my buying decision, but now that I have the keypad, I do the same thing. If I'm doing active outdoor stuff like mountain biking or hunting, I don't want that key in my pocket all day, especially since it likes to open in my pocket from that poor design. But I'm more concerned with losing it, so I'd rather lock it in the truck.
