Golf?
I have been known to whack the little white ball around whenever I can. No "country club membership" or PGA stuff or anything like that. I'm just a regular guy, like everyone, who enjoys the game.
I can play the small 9-hole county owned, municipal courses, -- you know, the ones where you have to carefully pick the pebbles out of the sand traps, or if nobody is looking, just kick the darn ball out with your foot. OR, if I can get with 3 other guys and we'll go out and play one of the more beautiful, sprawling, 18 hole regulation, golf courses around the area. Complete with a cart, snacks, and spare $$$ for the cute girl driving the beer cart.
No lies, no bragging, just my own personal golf records (never topped yet):
- Longest drive: 284 yards (slight downhill), faded to the right side of the fairway, just near the rough. Distance measured/calculated by a GPS golf app from one of the guys. 10mph tailwind helped!
- First and only, Eagle on a Par 4: (1) Driver out into the fairway, just barely past the 150 yard marker. (2) Grabbed my 7-iron with a clear shot to the green, just hoping to get it close. Smacked the $^#% out of the 7-iron, that rare moment when you hit it exactly on the "sweet spot". Ball went sailing down the fairway, just over the green, hit the raised embankment behind the green, bounced off and rolled back onto the green. Ball rolled and somehow followed the contour and/or "break" of the green, AND ROLLED INTO THE CUP!
- Worst score, worst sand trap/bunker experience: A quadruple bogey 8 on a hole. I am still traumatized by this, and absolutely HATE golf sand traps. I get all freaked out, I go mental, and my game suffers because I ended up in a sand trap... This particular awful golf outing, I ended up in a very fluffy greenside bunker. I got out my 58° sand wedge that I've had for years, and... well... I had a "golf meltdown". Whack! -- ball went 2 inches, sand flew everywhere. Whack! -- ball went 3 feet, and rolled right back. Whack! -- ball went flying, but just hit the lip of the bunker, and again, rolled right back. Whack! (with anger!) -- ball finally made it out of the bunker, but sailed way up over to the other side of the green, resting on the fringe. ....and a 2 putt, to make for a disastrous 8 on the card.
I normally shoot in the low 90's or upper 80's. Best round ever (still not beaten): 84 on an 18 hole course!
So, who else loves to play golf on here?
Still, I did enjoy it. Being tall, strong, and athletic I could hit it a ton and I could putt pretty well. But if I was 60 yards out I could still be 3 shots out.

Best Round? Upper 80s.
Worst Round? Don't remember.
Worst Hole? Had to be when I played a round with my mother-in-law at her course (that I'd never seen), and decided to shorten a dog-leg left by going over the trees. I swear that ball may still be pinging off those damned trees.
Best Hole? I did score a hole-in-1. Hit a beautiful 8 iron up, down, and into the hole. Didn't see it actually go in the hole from the tee.
Weirdest Hole? Probably the 3rd time I ever played I toed a driver off the tee that hit the hill of the adjacent hole, bounced up, and into the hole. Did you know that a "hole-in-1" on the wrong hole is considered an unplayable lie and a 1 stroke penalty?
"How do you spell 'putt'? With 1 or 2 t's?"
"Oddly, 'put' and 'putt' are both words and mean nearly the same thing. 'Put' with one 't' means to place something in a particular location. 'Putt' with two 't's means to try in vain to do the same thing."

I used to play some, not in a long time though. It's a good sport in that it is something people can do, and do well, at any age. It's a good skill and should be encouraged in young people, it's hard to explain but believe it or not it can help in your job and career prospects. It's kind of a networking thing, very often important decision makers play a lot of golf.

Currently a 8 hcp. No CC membership. I play a lot of competitions locally in NoVA.
