2004 Expedition HVAC/vacuum problem.

I had the problem where the air was only blowing through the defrost vents so I looked it up and found that it was probably a vacuum leak. When I looked under the hood, more than one of the vacuum lines were disintegrating. I decided to just change everything that I could find. I started with the one way check valve that has three line ports on it. That fixed the problem to some degree. I was getting air back through the dash vents great when the truck was sitting or coasting. When it accelerated, the air flow died. More than it should. I do realize that the air flow goes down when accelerating.

I then started changing the other small vacuum hoses. When I went to change the cone shaped connector on the plastic vacuum line that goes through the firewall, the plastic line broke. I'm assuming it broke at the firewall because I don't see any plastic line sticking through. I went and bought a new 3' section of the plastic line but can't see where to put it through the firewall. Does anyone have a picture of where this should be?

While I was at it I opened the glove box and unclipped it so it fell out of the way and couldn't see anything under the dash that looked like a grommet or pass through where that line would go. It doesn't look like an easy job on the dash side of this job. Does anyone know how much of the dash components I am going to have to take apart to get this line hooked back up after I get it through the firewall? I have attached a picture of the line I am talking about. In the picture I am actually holding it up and toward the front of the truck. If anyone has a link to a Youtube video of this exact problem I would appreciate that also.

Thanks,

Steve

Down below the PCM computer there on the passenger side. One tube is coming out to your hot water valve, and the other bare one is the supply tube from the intake manifold that runs in under the dash to the electro/mechanical vacuum solenoid under the dash in front of the center console. To access it you need to remove your center console.
If your hot water valve vacuum line is still intact follow it down to the firewall grommet.

I'm not. Do you have a link? Our truck has about 195,000 miles on it so I think I will start having to work on it more. That would be another great resource.

Thanks,

Steve
