It’s a long hard fall!

Took my 18 F350 SRW Limited to the dealer today to have a dash panel replaced and some other minor warranty things. The service writer said my truck would be done by the end of the day and to nobody’s surprise, it’s not done. Ugh. Now I am stuck with this rental F-150 base model xlt all weekend. Wow, do I ever miss my creature comfort options. A guy forgets how big and powerful the Superduty is.

Think how happy you’ll be when you’re back in your truck though.

My dealer is also a VW dealer, so I’ve had a few VW loaners when my truck has been in for servicing. Not my vehicle of choice.....

Could be worse...I've been driving a 2019 base model Escape for the past 2ish weeks while my SD gets all of it's exhaust valves replaced. It crushes my soul every time I get into it and drive. Every time, and I mean every time I go to open the door I think all I have to do is touch the door handle and it will unlock, cuss, hit the unlock button and jump in and then look for the Start button...dig the key out of my front pocket and start it up. One touch up windows?? No.

I do the same thing with the key. I’m used to using the Power deplorable running boards and this truck doesn’t have running boards. Damn near wiped out twice getting out of it. I expect there to be something under my foot and nope. Lol. 1st world problems. 😂

We are a bunch of spoiled brats, aren't we? Had similar experience with some micro-small Ford car I rented while the F250 was being repaired. I felt safer on my motorcycle than that little micro-car.

Normally, my new trucks were more of a base to mid level model and I spent a pile of money on exterior upgrades. Lift kits, fender flares, rims, etc. This time I decided to spend that money normally reserved for exterior goodies on interior goodies. Options that would make me more comfortable instead of others getting to enjoy the beauty. I’m sure glad I did. It’s been a struggle to not do my normal upgrades but I’m pretty sure eventually I will get sucked into it. Lol. I was also sick of everyone knowing what truck was mine, made it impossible to hide out in the oilfield when I wanted to screw the pooch. Now, even though it’s a limited, it’s hardly noticeable. I’m kind of enjoying blending in with the crowd.

Fully understand. I spent a few thousand dollars on wheels/tires for both of my Excursions. Got aftermarket wheels with Niito Grapplers for the '01, and then got 20" 2005 Super Duty KR pickup take-offs for my '05 Excursion (which also required the addition of 2" hub-centric spacers). Afterwards I asked myself why I spent all that money just to change the outside looks of the trucks. Didn't gain me anything and had nothing to show for it at trade-in/resale. Next truck was a 2010 F150 FX4, and I left the OEM 20" in place. I'm doing the same with my '17 KR. Why change the wheels after already spending $1,400 for upgrading to these color-matched OEM 20" wheels? Besides, I like 'em.
