The sad reality of apartment life is that I'm constantly sneaking around trying to restore my truck piece by piece without getting kicked out for looking like a redneck (the joys of living in San Fran)
Does anyone know if it's possible to pull the inner fenders without removing the outer fenders or hood? I want to get them out, clean them and paint them without the truck looking torn apart to a casual passer-by
The hood hinge bolts/sets onto the part you want to remove. Are you wanting to paint the eng compartment side? Remove/lay out of the way the wiring and components. Clean best ya can, then mask and paint.
It could be done with the right amount of bracing from fender to fender with like a 2x4 and let the hood hinge rest on that, or remove the hood for the job. But not really an easy way around it.
Have you joined your state chapter of South California? Maybe there is a fellow member out there with a drive way you can work in?
No they are NOT self aligning. If you are going to remove the hood, 1st sharpie mark the hood to hinge positions. And or hinge to innerfenderwell positions.
Take everything off the inner and use tinfoil to mask your engine, hinges and any other odd shapes you don't want painted that you can't easily tape off.
Tinfoil. I've been restoring cars most of my life and I've never heard that one. that is some useful information , it would be so much faster to apply and remove than tape.
