Truck Pull

Anyone ever try any of these 'redneck' truck pull events w/a stock 6.7l on stock tires?

Only if you want to break something. No way I would try it with a Daily Driver.

If you can avoid axle hop, you may only expose your truck to premature U-joint wear or axle breakage at your first pull. Beyond that, the trans could give up the ghost. Third night pulling is sure to cause really expensive problems. Try it and let us know.

Everybody here has an extra $100k lying around to buy a new Super Duty then destroy it, right?

Sorry I can’t try it because I don’t have a diesel. Do you? 😀

Broken U-joints or a driveshaft is about all you have to worry about. Maybe a front hub or axleshaft if the wheelhop gets bad and you don't let out of it.

Use manual mode on your transmission. 4-low. Start in 2nd, shift to 3rd and leave it there. At the end of the pull, when a transmission downshifts, is usually when parts break as it slams into gear at the moment the tires are at full traction with the most amount of weight on them from the sled.

Another forum member was upset about having to drive 1,000 miles before towing so I’ll be helping him out this weekend. I found a tractor pull about 400 miles away.
