Rebuilt the motor although not to fix the vibration i just wanted to do a refresh and needed to replace the rear main seal.......you know how it goes
Items replaced in addition to first post -
replaced rear u joint again along with carrier bearing
pulled a string line down the driveshaft to make sure it was straight as possible
had rear driveshaft balanced - no change
trans fluid
sonax shift kit was added
Tried a few things with no luck -
removed rear drive shaft went for a drive - still there
had tires rebalanced - even bought 2 new rims thinking it was them - still there
Check out this video - i was trying to see if i had a bad motor mount or trans mount. with the truck in reverse i had my fiance give it a little go peddle and it makes this noise?? it does not do it in “drive” only in reverse. could this be related?
Put it up on jack stands, 4wd high, and run it to see if it does the vibration thing, also look at the wheels/tires to see if you have one with excessive runout. Early on it was speculated that because a trailer increases the vibration that it points to something in the front and I disagree. Total guess, I'm thinking a rear tire with excessive runout; whether caused by the tire, wheel, or hub.
Did this start suddenly or slowly? If sudden, what preceded the vibration? Any repairs/parts replaced, accidents/hits of any kind, off roading trip, drunken drive...?
Well after 2 new sets of tires, brand new rims and pulling the driveshaft for the 3rd time I think I found the issue. I went and got the tires shaved and the vibration is almost non existent. For $129 I would recommend anyone having this issue get their tires done. Took less than a day and I drove home loving my truck again.
