Would the detent from a 68 power steering column fit in my 67 manual steering column? It’s the same setup aside from it being a power steering column, having column shift and manual steering, etc.
I believe they have the same detent, but I figured I would check.

Thanks! After a second call back, Bo ended up finding the part (after saying he didn’t have it the first time), and is shipping it to me. I plan to pull my steering column out so I can make sure the part that broke off didn’t go down the column since I haven’t found the piece, and I can’t imagine it would be good to have that down there. While I have it off, the steering coupling looks like it could use replacing. Does anyone know the spline measurements I need to know to get a replacement?

I'm batting 500, Bo had your part but another part that I needed for another guy...he didn't.

By the way, might I ask where I might find full part number lists, like the one you just posted? Even the old Ford diagrams (like the previously posted, exploded steering diagram "illustration section 35") only list the second part of the number (for example, the "7a216" of "c7tz-7a216-a"). And since clearly some parts with the same second half that have a different first half, and thus don't work interchangeably, that information would be good to know!

Basic part numbers only shown in parts catalog ILLUSTRATIONS. The TEXT section of the catalog is required to get the complete part number by adding the apropos prefix and suffix.
i attempted to rebuild my column in my 69 f-250 automatic and i got it all together and went to tighten the nut on the steering wheel and overtightened it and it went beyond the threads. i screwed it up trying to take it apart again. lesson learned don't argue with the wife and then go work on your truck. boy i sure showed her.,
