Cat back exhaust

What SD are you talking and what year/engine for the X? I think they might be close if not spot on, but I've only really been under my 6.0. I used a 4" downpipe and what was left of a 4" straight pipe from a 2004 F-350 (6.0) on my 2003 X 6.0. It was actually a bed stack in the old truck, so I even have a 4" 90 laying around somewhere that I didn't use.

What kind of shape is your factory exhaust currently in?
What size cat back system are you looking to use?
What gains are you hoping to see from the new cat back system?
I'm not 100% sure if a Super Duty exhaust would be a direct bolt on under an EX, the frame are different and that may affect where the hangers are mounted between the two. I would expect some adjustments to fit a pickup system on an EX, but you should be able to make one work.
The factory V-10 exhaust with it's 3" mandrel bent piping is pretty good stuff and a decent size for the engine. The factory muffler isn't either good or bad, its just a factory muffler and a freer flowing unit will change the sound but don't expect a muffler change to deliver much if any performance gains. The V-10 tends to be a bit raspy with some mufflers, so listen to as many sound clips as you can to make a choice to get what you like. I did and to me the Aeroturbine (Jones) 3030XL sounded the best so that what I went with. Unfortunately my 3030XL suffered a weld failure at the inlet nozzle and I'm currently straight piped, which doesn't really sound too bad either.
Which style Y pipe does your '01 have, the better flowing Ram's Horn or the necked down T shaped abomination? If you have the T shaped pipe a change to a free flowing true Y pipe will improve throttle response and give a little better all around performance, folks who have change to a true Y from the Rams Horn report little to no gains.
The biggest restriction in the exhaust is in the factory exhaust manifolds, the interior of the manifold after the 5th exhaust port is only about 10% larger than the head ports. In contrast my Banks headers primaries are each nearly as large as the final size of the stock manifolds. The headers did uncork the engine somewhat and do deliver a noticeable performance increase, nothing crazy but you do feel it especially under high loads like towing heavy.

I don't have a picture of the Ram's Horn handy but here is my factory T shaped pipe sitting next to the full flow Y pipe that came with my Banks headers.
