2005 F150 5.4L 4X4 196000....Engine shifts smoothly but at around 55-65mph it would stutter a little and the check engine light would flash..
usually a p204 p206 code. I just changed ALL the spark plugs and coil packs. It runs worse now than ever before. Slow and heavy to start...with a low growl. Not the fun growl when it was running smooth.
I now have a p0355 code. maybe a PCV valve or EGR sensor? maybe even TPS sensor??
When you (or whoever did your plug / cop job) they screwed the pooch. DIDN'T get the COP primary clip plugged onto Cylinder 5 snapped down all the way. It's not making contact - probably the plastic clip is broken and needs replaced. Or another likely cause is the little rubber insulator inside the clip is 'smushed' down into the bottom of the connector and pushes it back up. This is the SAME problem you have on Injector at cylinder number(s) four and six. Clip those connectors on good and you should be good to go.
Thats po204 0r po206 . Thats injector circuit problems . Clean connectors on all injectors ,inspect wiring. If it goes to ground injec tor won't work . You could have a break in the standing 12vdc feed with key on ,the 12vdc juumps from one to another . I would see that those two have it even when shaking wire harness . . At your miles new injectors would be nice . At least change them in sets of 4 because the computer adjusts them by the bank not individually. Plus it works better when they are all the same brand and age . I don't like reman injectors . Injectors leaking can ruin your engine .
Like f150 said any connector that isn't locked on is bad replace and solder in .
Number 5 cop either bad or connector . Clean and check . Use contact cleaner .I don't have any luck with cheap cops either .
I guess my question should have been...P0355 related. Since changing the spark plugs and coil packs, p0355 popped up. I have never seen this before. My truck runs worse now than before changing the plugs and coil packs. Why is that?
a code like p0305 means miss fire on #5... can be many causes.
your specific code p0355 means you have an ELECTRICAL problem with the coil..pull the electrical plug back off and look inside at the pins... Bent? pushed out ? plastic in the way ? put the plug back on.. wires BENT? broken ? lock not holding tight to coil ?. electrical plug not seated onto the coil ?.......... ... also check the spring inside the boot seated on the plug, etc...
